The 12th Annual Cesar
E. Chavez Holiday Parade & Festival in San Francisco has become a significant event
in the Mission. The parade draws a diverse crowd of participants
and attendees from different demographics and cultures. The parade
ends with the 24th Street Fair.
Annually, thousands of
Bay Area residents, families, schools, religious groups, labor
unions, and community organizations join in to celebrate Cesars
legacy. This is the largest event honoring Cesar Chavez in
Northern California.
Celebrating the legacy
of Cesar Chavez gives us the opportunity to reflect on the values
he applied in his work. The values of service, sacrifice, self-determination,
non-violence and community will be expressed in parade contingents,
festival booths and speeches. Our themes will provide an excellent
opportunity to display your organizations community service,
outreach and education programs.
The Festival after the
parade offers an opportunity for attendees to learn about the
life of Cesar Chavez and while enjoying the day in a historic
Mission neighborhood. This years festival will feature
a focus on youth with the Cesar E. Chavez art contest winners;
a teach-in on Cesars life and work; a special Cesar E.
Chavez Educational Achievement Award ceremony recognizing Latino
honor roll students in San Francisco public schools.
